CSM Starter Socks



Beginner Socks for a Circular Sock Machine // Design by Felicia Lo

A simple sock recipe you can customize to any size. It is as easy as making a tension swatch, finding your favourite sock fabric, and using those measurements to create the perfect pair of cozy socks in a stockinette, ribbed, or striped design!

Yarn
  • Stockinette Socks: 1 skein SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock in Fizzy Water (425 yds / 388 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 80% easy-care merino, 20% nylon)
  • Mock Rib Socks: 1 skein SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock in Coastline or Sea Glass (425 yds / 388 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 80% easy-care merino, 20% nylon) 
  • Striped Socks: 1 SweetGeorgia Sock Kit in Rose Canyon (425 yds / 388 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 80% easy-care merino, 20% nylon) 
    Note: One skein of SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock is generally enough to make one pair of socks (sized Ladies 7-9). Larger socks may require two skeins.
Machine Settings & Tools
  • Knitting Machine: circular sock knitting machine with 64-stitch cylinder
    Adjust cylinder size if necessary, to obtain your ideal gauge
  • Heel forks, stem weights, pick tool, cast-on bonnet, buckle, darning needle, waste yarn, ravel cord.

Gauge
  • 8.5 sts and 11 rnds = 1″ / 2.54 cm in stockinette, after blocking
    Please note changes in gauge will affect yardage used and final measurements.
Finished Measurements
  • XXX” / XXX cm circumference, unstretched
