A Lace & Garter Blanket // Design by Tabetha Hedrick
Lace and garter stitch shift, flow, ripple, and move throughout this multi-colour lap (or baby) blanket. Cider & Fire is worked from corner-to-corner, the diamond shape is beautifully enhanced with a textured two-stranded construction and strong diagonal lines. Originally designed as part of our SweetGeorgia 2020 Advent Set, you can also find additional yarn options listed below.

yarn: 1 SweetGeorgia *Advent 2020 Kit in Midnight Embers (985 yd / 900 m per 9 oz / 264 g set, 82 yd / 75 m per .75 oz / 22 g mini skin; 80% easy-care merino, 20% nylon) *discontinued

needles: Size 9 US / 5.5 mm circular needles, 24" / 60 cm long
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge. -
gauge: 12 sts and 23 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Increase pattern, with two strands held together, pinned out and fully stretched, after blocking
Please note that changes in gauge will affect yardage used and final measurements. - finished measurements: 28" / 71 cm width and height
Alternative Yarn Options:
Originally designed for our 2020 Advent sets, you can use any combination of 12 fingering-weight yarns and colours, with a minimum of 82 yds / 75 m in each colour.
- Pull from stash fingering-weight yarn remnants, changing colours when you run out
- Use 2 SweetGeorgia Party of Five Tough Love Sock mini-skein sets and adjust colours as desired for the different sections in the shawl
