4-Shaft Waffle Weave Scarf // Design by Leslie Green
The waffle weave structure, in combination with the yarn, results in a thick, warm fabric with a lovely drape that is soft and silky against the skin, perfect for a scarf.

- Warp & Weft: 3 skeins SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine, 1 each in Bright Penny, Honey Gold, and Fresh Air (370 yd / 338 m per 3.5 oz / 100 g skein; 75% bluefaced leicester, 15% mohair, 10% silk)
Equipment & Tools
- Loom : 4-shaft loom with a minimum 12" / 30 cm weaving width
- Tools: 8-dent reed (sleyed 2 threads per dent) or 12-dent reed (slayed 1-1-2), 3 stick or boat shuttle with 1 bobbin
Structure
- Weave Structure: waffle weave
- Warp Length: 3 ¼ yd / 2.9 m (this includes 40" / 101.6 cm of loom waste which includes 12" / 30 cm fringe, 6" / 15 cm sampling, 10" / 25 cm shrinkage, and 4" / 10 cm take-up, estimating 5%)
- Warp Ends: 171 ends, includes 2 floating selvedges
- Warp Sett: 16 epi / 6.3 epcm
- Weft Sett: 16 epi / 6.3 epcm
- Width in Reed: 10 ¾" / 27 cm
- Woven Length: 78" / 198.1 cm
Finished Measurements
- Width: 8 ½″ / 21.6 cm after wet finishing; approx. 20% reduction in width
- Length: 68″ / 172.7 cm, plus 6" / 15 cm fringe per end, after wet finishing; approx. 13% reduction in length
