SEPTEMBER 2024 // RIVERFRONT

This is my ideal combination of fibres, starting with a base of untreated Bluefaced Leicester wool. BFL is soft and glossy, elastic and warm. BFL fibre is also strong and more hardwearing than finer wools. The texture is not springy or spongy, but instead it’s almost sleek.

The next fibre I would add is a soft, fine, mohair that is not a fuzzy mohair, but a smooth and strong mohair. Mohair fibre is very hardwearing while it is also shiny and takes dye in an amazingly vibrant way.

Finally, adding silk makes everything beautiful, shimmery, and also strong.

It would be really easy to say that our September “Riverfront” colourway is inspired by the fact that we moved our studio to a spot right along the Fraser River and that we are so blessed to enjoy a beautiful view of the river every day, but this month’s inspiration is something a little different.

During the creation of this colourway, my family and I were planning a trip to head three hours eastbound to meet up with three other families. We’ll be camping next to the Similkameen River for three nights.
