Here in Vancouver, we've barely had a summer, what with all the rain. But I'm excited to skip ahead to autumn anyway. Fall knitting and the thought of warm wool socks and sweaters is inspiring me to make new things. Check out Allison Haas' beautiful new his & hers sock pattern "Footsie", designed in our BFL Sock and CashLuxe Fine. A perfect way to fall into fall knitting.
Hello all! We are taking a short summer break and will be closing the studio between July 13 and August 2nd. Any orders placed during this time will be shipped in August when we return. Happy summer knitting!
Canada Post is back up and running now, so we'll be shipping out packages again starting Tuesday, June 28. We're sorry for any inconvenience or delays and we're so happy that we can get back to our regular shipping schedule. We've also updated our website with all our available skeins. Check out the in-stock yarns here »
Due to a national labour disruption, Canada Post can only provide limited postal services. Canada Post Corporation (CPC) has announced that it has locked out its Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) employees, suspending its operations across the country.
Our first priority is to get your yarn to you and so we have added UPS as an option during checkout. Shipping by UPS is slightly more expensive than our usual Canada Post options, so if you would prefer to wait and save the shipping fees, you can still checkout with Canada Post for shipping and we will hold onto your packages until the strike is over.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide any updates as they become available. For more details on the lockout, please see the Canada Post website.
It’s getting exciting here in Vancouver as we prepare for a very special, world-class event in February! We’ve even got a special edition colourway to celebrate it! Our special edition colourway called “Wetcoast Winter” celebrates the true vision of Vancouver in February… greens and blues! You will be able to find Wetcoast Winter in Tough Love Sock, Superwash Sport, Superwash Worsted and CashSilk Lace at both Urban Yarns and Three Bags Full in the upcoming weeks. We’ll also have it up for sale in the online shop here soon!
We’ve also added to our main collection of colours! Our Slate grey is a cool neutral colour that will work well alongside brighter accent colours. And our new Cypress green is a woodsy, murky kind of evergreen colour. See examples of both on our blog here »
And you can order these in any of our dyed-to-order yarns right here!
This fall, we’re introducing our lofty and luxurious Merino Silk Aran, a 50/50 blend of soft merino and cultivated silk, along with several new jewel-toned colours. Espresso is a deep, rich chocolate brown. Cayenne is our spicy burnt orange and persimmon colour. Ultraviolet is a super deep purple violet. And Nightshade is an sparkling dark indigo navy. All these colours are available in all our dye to order yarns, available now. Happy knitting to you this Fall!
Blue skies and sunny days means that summer has finally arrived in Vancouver! Despite the sweltering heat in our little production studio, we’ve been dyeing up some new colours that are perfect for summer and available in all our base yarns.
Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate our six month half-anniversary with a little knit and spin afternoon! It was so lovely to see everyone’s beautiful knitting projects and it’s always nice to see the studio full of happy knitters and spinners.
You’ll find that we’ve updated the shop and studio with a new heavier, but exquisite, 2-ply laceweight yarn: Merino Silk Lace. We’ve also dyed lots of CashSilk Lace and Handpainted Lace yarns. We also have the new Riptide colour here in Superwash Sock.
And finally, we’ve added new classes in sock knitting, spinning and weaving… come see!
Our little production studio has been busy with visitors (from as far away as Atlanta, Georgia!) students and classes, new yarns and new colours. The first set of weaving students are just finishing up their classes and continuing on to create more and more ambitious projects. We’re getting the shelves filled up with yarns in our new semi-solid colourways and ordering more yarns. The studio is tiny but busy and you are more than welcome to come visit.
